Common problems we observeThese are the issues that come up again and again with our clients when they consider moving to this part of rural France:1. Isolation and car dependencyMany beautiful villages are also isolated : no train stations, no buses, long drives for basic services, and a daily life entirely dependent on a car. What feels peaceful during holidays can become difficult year-round. Location really is everything, and it is often misunderstood from abroad.2. Buying too big, too complex, or the wrong type of propertyLarge cheap farmhouses, old buildings with huge volumes, or land classified as agricultural may look attractive, but often come with high renovation and maintenance costs, legal and administrative constraints, very limited resale potential. What looks like a bargain can quickly become a long-term financial and practical trap.3. The gap between the dream and daily realityBeautiful landscapes do not guarantee an easy everyday life. People are often unsure about internet quality, access to shops, healthcare, schools, tradespeople, deliveries, public services, or commuting times… Behind the postcard image, the real question is always: will daily life actually be practical and sustainable there?4. Bureaucracy, language, pitfalls and local scamsFrench administration is complex even for French people. For foreigners it can be overwhelming : bank accounts, proof of address, visas, birth certificates, sworn translations, notaries, taxes... There are also real risks when choosing contractors or navigating local practices without knowing who to trust. Especially with local workers who love to triple their prices when they hear people speaking English…

About usWe operate for now over three french départements : Loire (42), Saône-et-Loire (71) and Rhône (69). We are based in Charlieu, a village at the exact meeting point between those three areas. We work with a reliable network of local experts, workers, notaries, real estate agents, financial advisers…We are natives from the area, and initialy manage short-term rentals. We regularly welcome visitors who explore the region before deciding whether to settle here. Over time, many of them — both foreigners and french city dwellers — have asked for help choosing villages, assessing properties, understanding local constraints, and finding reliable contacts. This advisory service is built on that local experience, long-term on-site presence, an extensive on-the-ground network and above all, a deep love for our region.
